Therapeutic phlebotomy is a provider-ordered procedure in which a specific amount of blood is removed as part of a treatment plan. The amount to be collected and any treatment parameters are determined by your healthcare provider’s written order.

Therapeutic phlebotomy may be ordered for conditions such as:

• Hemochromatosis

• Polycythemia Vera

• Secondary Polycythemia

• Iron overload disorders

• Other provider-directed therapeutic blood removal treatments

• Mobile therapeutic phlebotomy at your location

• Professional venipuncture

• Collection supplies

• Procedure documentation

• Safe handling and disposal of collection materials

• Coordination with the ordering provider or laboratory when applicable

A valid physician’s order is required before scheduling. The order must include the therapeutic phlebotomy instructions and applicable treatment parameters. Recent laboratory results may also be required based on your provider’s instructions.

The Aeris service fee covers mobile specimen collection and related specimen handling and transport to the designated laboratory.

Laboratory testing, processing, and interpretation are separate and are performed and billed by the applicable laboratory or healthcare provider.

Aeris does not bill insurance directly. An itemized receipt may be provided upon request.
