Ceruloplasmin Test

The Ceruloplasmin Test measures the level of ceruloplasmin in your blood. Ceruloplasmin is a protein produced primarily by the liver that carries most of the copper circulating in your bloodstream.

  • Why Is Ceruloplasmin Important?

Ceruloplasmin helps transport copper throughout the body and plays a role in iron metabolism. Because the liver produces ceruloplasmin and helps regulate copper balance, measuring this protein can provide useful information when evaluating certain conditions involving copper metabolism.

  • Why Monitor Ceruloplasmin Levels?

Ceruloplasmin testing may be considered when evaluating copper metabolism or investigating certain medical conditions, including Wilson disease.

Individuals using copper-containing products, such as GHK-Cu, may wish to discuss copper monitoring with their healthcare provider. Ceruloplasmin testing may be considered when clinically appropriate, but it is not a specific test for monitoring GHK-Cu use or determining whether its use is safe.

Ceruloplasmin levels can be affected by inflammation, liver conditions, and other factors. A healthcare provider may recommend measuring blood copper levels alongside ceruloplasmin, depending on individual health history and clinical needs.

  • What's Included?

  • Ceruloplasmin blood test

  • Laboratory testing at an eligible participating laboratory location

  • Results typically available within 3–4 business days after testing is completed. Turnaround times may vary.

Important Information

No insurance required for eligible purchases. Testing is subject to availability and applicable laboratory requirements.

This test is not a comprehensive liver function test and cannot diagnose liver disease, Wilson disease, or copper toxicity on its own. Additional testing may be needed based on your healthcare provider's recommendations.

Aeris Phlebotomy Services does not diagnose medical conditions or interpret laboratory results. Please consult your healthcare provider to review and discuss your results.
