Copper Test

  • Why Is Copper Important? Copper is an essential mineral that supports red blood cell production, nerve function, connective tissue formation, and normal energy metabolism. It also helps your body absorb and use iron. The liver plays an important role in regulating copper levels by processing copper and helping eliminate excess amounts through bile. Certain liver conditions can affect how copper is processed in the body.

  • Why Monitor Copper Levels? Copper testing may be considered when evaluating a possible copper imbalance or when a healthcare provider determines that assessing copper status is appropriate.

Individuals using copper-containing products, such as GHK-Cu, may wish to discuss copper testing with their healthcare provider. However, a blood copper test alone cannot determine total body copper levels, measure copper accumulation in the liver, or establish whether GHK-Cu use is safe.
